Comfortable sightseeing routes in Kamakura that are little known
The route we will introduce this time is as shown in this diagram.
Starting point: Kita-Kamakura Station
The starting place this time is Kita-Kamakura Station.
Kita-Kamakura Station is a station located between Kamakura Station and Ofuna Station.
Many people go to Kamakura Station, so there are very few people who get off at Kita-Kamakura Station.
Engaku-ji
Engakuji Temple is right in front of Kita-Kamakura Station, so it’s the first temple you can visit.
Inside the park, you can see some of Japan’s most valuable buildings.
Also, if you climb up to where the Great Brahma Bell is located, you might be able to see Mt. Fuji.
Kencho-ji
The next spot to visit is Kenchoji Temple.
Here you can also see a valuable temple within the large garden.
If you go to the back of the garden, you can see the Kenchoji Garden, a garden with a beautiful lake.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
The next place to visit is Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
This is a famous tourist spot, so there are many people, but there are various spots such as Kamakura Bunkakan Tsurugaoka Museum and Kenshu Dojo.
In particular, Hataage Benzaiten Shrine is a shrine located in the lake and is a perfect spot for Instagram photos.
Kamakura Daibutsu
Kamakura Daibutsu is famous as a spot where you can see the biggest Buddha statue in Japan.
It is best to take the Enoshima Electric Railway, but you can also walk for about 30 minutes from Kamakura Station.
In addition to Kamakura Daibutsu, Hase-dera Temple is also nearby, and there are various restaurants within reach of Hase Station.
It’s also a great spot to grab a bite to eat, as the restaurants near Kamakura Station are often crowded.
